Level Up Your Armchair Game
It has been just over a month since we shared 10 ideas for at-home activities during social distancing. Were you able to try any of them out? Which one was your favorite?
By far our favorite experience was virtual travel. Now even more cultural landmarks, natural wonders, famous museums and galleries around the globe are offering virtual tours so you can explore the world from the comfort of your home.
While nothing can replace an in-person experience, virtual tours, webcams and panoramas are giving us insight into places we may never have had the opportunity before. We don’t know about you, but our bucket lists are growing exponentially after seeing some of these places virtually.
Spend A Day (or Two) at the Museum
We shared this with you last time: Google Arts & Culture partnered with more than 2,500 museums and galleries around the world to bring tours and exhibits to anyone with an internet connection.
Our new favorites include:
The Chauvet Cave: The World’s Oldest Art Gallery
Art Selfie, Find Out Which Famous Artwork You Look Like
All Aboard at the London Transport Museum
Swim with the Fish at the Shedd Aquarium in Chicago
Explore Famous Cultural Landmarks
Walk the Hall of Mirrors at Versailles
Discover Natural Wonders
Dive into the wonder that is Air Pano. This website offers the most breathtaking virtual tours. Gaze at the Northern Lights, traverse the Sahara and get up close (while staying dry) to Detain Falls, Asia’s largest transnational waterfalls.
Visit the National Park Foundation for a collection of virtual park tours.
And while this may not be a “natural wonder” it is wonderful! Take the kids on a virtual vacation to Disney World. This is fun for the whole family with 120 360º rides.
